Obituary of Kathy Lynn Torres
Kathy Lynn (Kaiser) Torres, age 66, of Monroe, went peacefully to her heavenly home on July 13, 2023, after courageously living with and fighting Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Kathy was born on June 23, 1957, in Monroe, Michigan to Marvin and Marilyn (Meier) Kaiser. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1975. A few short years later she had her son, Ryan, followed by two daughters, Cory and Erin. Kathy had many other notable interests and accomplishments throughout her time, but she would have told you her children were the greatest things she ever did in her life. In 2007, Kathy met the love of her life, Alfred Torres, whom she created a beautiful life with. Her husband and family were paramount to her. More than anything Kathy loved to spend time with her family and was unendingly proud of her husband, children, and grandchildren.
In her free time, she enjoyed frequenting both Tennessee and Florida’s gulf coast, spending time with her beloved lifelong friends, family, and especially quality time with her children and grandchildren: Nolan, Camden, Donovan, Roman, Rune, Roise, and Ren who she proudly doted over and spoiled every chance she got. She had a deep love for her dogs. She was surely greeted with many wagging tails as she entered the gates of heaven. Pip being her most recent rescue and adored companion. She also loved the Lord, had faith, beliefs and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She found comfort in knowing she would find rest and be free of pain in heaven.
To say that her family and friends will miss her greatly is an understatement. She was wonderful and had a smile that would light up a room. Even as her health was fading, she never lost her beautiful smile. Nothing brought Kathy more joy than knowing her children were happy and safe. She cherished the warm embrace of her husband, children, and grandchildren and their laughter during the last few months of her declining health.
Kathy was greeted in heaven by her father, Marvin (Barney) Kaiser. She is survived by her husband: Alfred Torres, son: Ryan (Sarah) Rafko, daughters: Cory Newcomer (Donovan Williams) and Erin (Joel) McElvany, mother: Marilyn Kaiser, brothers: Kent (Denise) Kaiser and Kevin Kaiser, and her seven grandchildren, as well as many extended family members.
Friends are invited to share memories of Kathy with her family during a gathering from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday; July 19, 2023, at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. She will lie in state from 10:00am until 11:00am on Thursday; July 20, 2023, at Christ Lutheran Church, 225 East Elm Avenue, Monroe, Michigan 48162. A Funeral Service Celebrating Her Life will take place at 11:00am with Pastor David Hively officiating. A luncheon will follow at the St. Mary Parish Life Center, and private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society (MACS) an organization Kathy felt strongly about.
