Obituary of Theresa Rose Miller
Theresa Rose Ravary was born at home in Erie, Michigan on June 21, 1928. She was one of four children born from the union of Edward Ravary and Antoinette (Geiger) Ravary. She attended St. Mary Academy graduating with the Class of 1946.
Following high school, Theresa was employed at a local bank. She soon, however, took a position as a cashier with Toledo Scale which altered the course of her life. At Toledo Scale she met her future husband, William Clarence Miller. The couple was joined in marriage at Erie, St. Joseph Church on August 28, 1954. They soon were blessed with three children.
For many years, Theresa worked for Erie Mason Consolidated Schools as a Teacher’s Aide . She remained very active at St. Joseph Church where she was a member for more than ninety-four years serving in various ministries from Altar Society, funeral dinner committee, and rummage sales. She and William helped to run a booth at the St. Joseph Labor Day Festival for more than forty years. She was also a volunteer at the Lions Den Resale Store in Temperance.
Theresa enjoyed euchre at the Bedford Senior Center, St. Anthony's Card Club, and Luna Pier Water Tower Park, as well as the Erie Friendship Club. She loved traveling through Northern Michigan and visiting antique shops. She enjoyed her family and what was best for them. Theresa was a very caring and thoughtful person; she loved people and took a general interest in what mattered most to them.
Theresa Rose Miller, age 94, of Erie passed away at Wellspring Lutheran Services on Friday; May 19, 2023. She had been in declining health for several months and under the care of Elara Caring Hospice. Her passing was preceded by her parents; her beloved husband of sixty-five years: William; a loving daughter: Kathy Ansted; a brother: Don Ravary; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Virginia (Jim) O'Neill and Dolores (Donald) Buetler; and a nephew: David O'Neill.
To cherish her memory, she leaves two sons: Michael (Dana) Miller of Lambertville and Mark Miller of Erie; a son-in-law: Paul Ansted of Florida; a sister-in-law: Virginia "Jeanie" Ravary; three grandchildren: Chad Miller, Kyle Miller, and Tara (Saleh) Aldawlah; and many nieces and nephews who grew up together in the neighborhood.
Friends may gather from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday; May 25, 2023, at Merkle Funeral Service, Erie; 9156 Summit Street, Erie, Michigan 48133 (734) 317-7199 where the Rosary service will be recited at 7:00pm. She will lie in state from 10:00am until 11:00am on Friday; May 26, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church; 2214 Manhattan Street, Erie, Michigan 48133. The Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11:00am with Father Mark Prill officiating. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Erie for burial.
