Obituary of Brenda Elizabeth Dykes
Brenda Elizabeth Shaw was born in Monroe, Michigan on May 25, 1952. She was one of three children from the union of Willard Woodrow Shaw and Frances Ethel (Palanzo) Shaw. She attended Airport Community Schools, graduating with the Class of 1970.
For more than twenty years, Brenda worked at Crafts 2000. Being bubbly and extremely lively, she relished her role at the Service Desk. Brenda was very crafty and talented, feeling more than at home in the store. She also participated as a vendor in many craft shows for years.
Brenda had a wonderful sense of humor, often joking around to keep others on their toes. She loved to cook receiving this gift from her mother. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting family get-togethers. She was quite fond of her grandchildren, always looking forward to spending time with them. An avid sports fan, Brenda loved all her Detroit Sports teams from the Tigers, Lions, Pistons, and Wings. She also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing. To keep active for many years she bowled in various leagues and loved to dance.
Brenda Elizabeth Dykes, age 70 of Monroe passed away at 10:38pm on Sunday; April 16, 2023 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Her passing was preceded by her parents and a nephew: Kurt Scholl.
To cherish her memory, she leaves two children: Jeremy Dykes of Monroe and Kelly (Clinton) Livermore also of Monroe; one sister: Laura (Dan) Scholl of Ida; one brother: Willard "Willie" Shaw of Newport; eight grandchildren: Swayze, Breanna, Tiffany, Brendan, Brittany, Alexis, Joseph, Mathew; nine great grandchildren; and nephew: Joshua (Megan) Scholl along with their three children.
Friends may gather from 2:30pm until 4:30pm on Thursday; April 20, 2023, at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 4:30pm also at Merkle’s with Pastor BJ McDaniel of One-Way Christian Fellowship Church officiating. Cremation will follow through the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
