Obituary of Phillip Joseph Duvall
Phillip Joseph Duvall was born on April 11, 1946 in Monroe, Michigan. He was the eldest of three children born to Donald and Angela (Nadeau) Duvall. Phil was a graduate of Monroe High School where he met his future spouse, Concettina “Tina” DiCarlo. The couple was joined in holy matrimony on November 20, 1965 in Monroe at St. Mary Catholic Church. Shortly, after taking his vows, Phil began his service with the United States Army. He honorably served on base in Texas for a two year period during the Vietnam War.
Phil took a position with the City of Monroe Fire Department, becoming the third-generation in his family to serve as a firefighter. His care for others was exceptional as his career spanned twenty-six years prior to his retirement in 1997.
A loving husband for fifty-seven years and a blessed father of three children, Phil made the most of his time away from the firehouse. The family often hit the open road with camper trailer in tow. They traveled throughout Northern Michigan and across the country through the hills of Kentucky to as far South as Florida and Texas. When the grandchildren were a bit older they often tagged along making many wonderful memories. Very friendly and talkative, Phil never met a stranger. In fact, he looked forward to striking up conversation with people he met for the first time. He also enjoyed classic television programs such as M*A*S*H and Old Western movies.
