One of my earliest memories of Al was seeing him in his military uniform. He was very handsome. I also remember when he was a barber. But most of my memories are of him after he married JoAnn and watching his kids grow up. One conversation I had with him was at his house after Greg’s funeral. He was talking about how Greg would always be his son and that he would continue to talk about him and tell stories of him. I remembered this conversation when, 14 years later, just as he had lost his mother and son in the same year, being the same age he was, I lost my son and father in the same year. I looked to Allen and JoAnn’s example to give me encouragement to keep going. Allen (and JoAnn) never lost his sense of humor or positive attitude. This inspired me to do the same. But while taking this trip down memory lane, I was remembering all the people who loved Allen and who were waiting to greet him when he got to heaven. First, of course, would have been Greg, followed by Aunt Ceil and Uncle Gerry, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and fellow soldiers. There would have been a bunch of hugging and back slapping and joking around and maybe even a beer or two. I wonder if there is fishing in heaven? If so, I hope he catches a big one. Until we meet again, love you, cousin. I was blessed to have you in my life.

My condolences go out to the family of Al. I actually got to know Al through JoAnn many years ago. JoAnn and I worked together at Airport Community Schools. Al was always smiling and friendly when we interacted through schools activities. Al and JoAnn even hosted our staff holiday party one year. Al will be greatly missed in the community. My sympathies to JoAnn and family.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you Joann and your family. Al always had a smile on his face. He had a joke or a tail to tell. Leo would come home and tell me (that Al Miedeon had use in stitches the whole time we where waiting for the funeral home to call use). He would say to me when he would see me if I didn't have a wife I would let you cook for me. Al was one of the nicest man, and sooo sweet. No mater how much pain he would be in with his leg or his hip you never not seen him with a smile on his face. He will be truly missed at the V.F.W. He will also be missed by the Ritual Team. He is now a Soldier in Heaven with all that know him. He was greeted on the steps of honor with each step he took there was a soldier there to salute and welcome him. Until we meet again R.I.P. Corporal Allen Mideon.
