Darlene Sue Baumann
September 11, 1970 - September 25, 2009
Darlene S. Baumann age 39, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, September 25. She had been under the care of Mercy Memorial Nursing Center Staff and Hospice. Her loving family stood by her side throughout her valiant fight with cancer since first being diagnosed in 2003.
Darlene was born September 11, 1970 in Monroe the daughter of Dean Baumann and Patricia (Michael) Baumann. Darlene was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She attended Monroe High School with the Class of 1988. She met Duane Staelgraeve in 1986 and they were married on August 14, 1993.
Darlene worked several years as a waitress/cashier for Ernie's Restaurant (Mugsy's). She had a passion for yard work and for many years assisted Duane with the operation of Staelgraeve Lawn Care.
Darlene found her most important and yet favorite responsibility was that of being a MOM. Sbe particularly enjoyed spending time with her children and the projects they worked on together. Darlene leaves her children with the message: "Mom Loves You, and is Always Watching Over You!" She also appreciated the presence of her family, all those who cared for her, slumber parties, and late night pizza parties and burger runs.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two children: Devin and Destiny Staelgraeve of Monroe; parents: Dean (Dixie) Baumann of Upper Sandusky, Ohio and Patricia Locascio of Newport; brothers: Dan (Michelle) of Monroe and Mike (Brenda Moody) Baumann of Spartanburg, SC; step-sisters: Tonya (Doug) Ridel of Powell, Ohio and Michelle (Greg) Sheppard of Galenia, Ohio; step-brothers: Robert (Michelle) of Dublin, Ohio and Stephen (Patty) Clawson of Galenia; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; beloved friends: Michelle Raymer, Keri Raymo, and Vickie Graczyk, and Wendy Webb, her cousin. Her special companion, dog: Gizmo also supported her as her health declined. Her passing was preceded by several grandparents; sister: Debbie Johnson; nieces: Ashley Baumann and Vanessa Pace; and sister-in-law: Amy Baumann.
Friends may gather from 12:00-8:00pm, Sunday, September 27, at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185 and from 11:00am until a Celebration of Her Life at 1:00pm, Monday, September 28. The Rev. B.J. McDaniel pastor of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church whom she had received her spiritual care from will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
