Obituary of Anthony Foley
Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anthony Alexander Foley was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on November 21, 1939. He was one of five children the only son born from the union of the late Peter J. and Mary Elizabeth (Branhurst) Foley. He grew up in Detroit graduating from Cooley High School with the Class of 1957.
He married Katherine Travis in 1959 and from this union came the birth of four children. Anthony supported his family as a talented meat cutter. A member of the Local United Food and Commercial Workers, he spent twenty-five years employed by Danny's Foods. After their closing, Tony spent several years employed as a bus driver for Peoples Express in the Whitmore Lake area.
Anthony married the love of his life; Ruth (Selinsky) Raymond on October 28, 1988. Tony was quite the character. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved fishing and had his fair share of big fish stories. He also enjoyed hunting and camping but it was well known that his hunting skills were lacking and he often "slept" while on his "hunting" trips. He was a member of the Downriver Walleye group.
Tony was extremely frugal when looking for a great deal. He was gifted to be a great negotiator. Tony was always up for the challenge of haggling a price to achieve the best possible value.
