Certified Therapy Dog
She may be the smallest member of our Merkle Team, but her responsibilities are some of the largest. Lola is a Cock-A-Poo, born June 9, 2008 and is a frequent fixture at any of the Merkle Funeral Service locations. Lola completed Basic Obedience Training at Dundee K9 on October 23, 2009. She loves people and has shown the keen instinct and ability to know when a person is grieving and needs to be comforted. Sometimes just her close presence brings comfort, but she also knows when she needs to be much closer to help and will usually find her way into that person's lap or next to them on the couch or chair.
Because of this ability, Lola has gone on to complete Canine Good Manners Class on November 15, 2012. She has completed her Therapy Dogs International testing and has obtained certification.
Merkle Funeral Service families often request to have Lola present at their Gathering and/or Celebration of Life and she is very happy when she gets to officially "work". When she is not working, she loves to spend her time with the Merkle children and her fellow members of the Merkle Funeral Service staff.
