Karen Petticrew

Obituary of Karen L. Petticrew

Karen “Gabby/Ma P” Petticrew January 3, 1942 to November 15, 2017 Karen Louise Petticrew, was called to be with our Lord on Wednesday, November 15, after a prolonged string of illnesses. Gabby or Ma P was fanatical about her family and the biggest supporter of absolutely any activity they participated in. She would always be the one leading the cheer, decorating cars, healing the wounds, and feeding the gang! The lake house Labor Day Weekend Family Reunions will be missing the matriarch, but they will continue in her honor as we belt out another verse of “We are family!” The loving bride of Don for 57 years, these two created a family second to none in their closeness and love of living life to the fullest. It is said that the essence of living is giving and our mommy truly lived a life of giving; she was the definition of servant leadership making sure she put others needs first and making sure everyone she came in contact with knew that who they were and what they did mattered. She retired from the University of Michigan after 33 years of service and her love of the Wolverines was only second to that of her love of the Adrian College Bulldogs, where numerous family members played and graduated from. Her legacy of service, faith, and love of life & family will be carried on by her husband Don, sister Marianne of Springfield, OH, three children: Jon of Granville, OH, Tammy Meisel (Tom) of Howell, MI, and Scott (Deb) of Adrian, MI, her seven grandchildren, four great grandkids, and huge bunch of nieces, nephews, and friends. The Petticrew clan would like to thank all of those health care providers that assisted our Gabby over the years, especially Dr. Patricia Showerman, U of M ICU staff, St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor and Livingston staff, especially Heather Balog . Nurses rock the world! Friends may call at Cover Funeral Home in Dundee, MI from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17th. She will lay in state from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. ,Saturday, with Mass to follow at St. Irene Catholic Church/ St. Gabriel Parish in Dundee, Michigan. Gabby’s final resting place in Springfield, OH will be easy to spot with the Go Dawgs! and Go Blue! flags proudly waving in the breeze! In lieu of flowers, donations be made to American Heart Association in her honor. Online condolences may be made at www.coverfuneralhome.com
