Obituary of Rose M. Landry

On Tuesday, October 24th, 2017, Rose (Cooley) Landry, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt went to be the Lord after being ill for many years. Rose will be forever loved and remembered by her loving husband, George, their daughter, Tara (Cooley) Mitchell, grandchildren, Lance, Kathryn, Allen, and Alicia, as well as her sister, Gloria, adoptive sisters, Wendy, Lora, and Connie , and brother, Alan. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Rose was a graduate of Dundee High School in 1977. After graduating from high school, she pursued a career in cosmetology and make-up artistry at the Michigan School of Beauty in Monroe. During the 1980’s, Rose also explored a variety of careers including EMT training and majoring in criminal justice at Stautzenberger College, maintaining a 4.0 GPA. On October 23, 1989, Rose married her best friend, George, in a small ceremony in Dundee. Shortly after they were married, they moved with their daughter, Tara, to Alabama, where they resided until 1993. While in Alabama, Rose was active in her church and will be missed by her many friends that reside there. She is survived by her husband, daughter, grandchildren, sisters, brother, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Jack and Mary Lou Cooley, and mother, Helen Penterics. Rose will lie in state at Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156) on Saturday, October 28, 2017, with visitation from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Her funeral service will be on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 1:00 pm, with interment following the service at Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 12:15 until service at 1:00 PM. The family invites you to a luncheon at the Dundee United Methodist Church in honor of Rose following the burial.
