Obituary of Dale Michael Hill

Dale Michael Hill was born on June 18, 1956 in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of five children born from the union of the late Kenneth Hill and Shirley (Schneider) Hill, and was a graduate of Monroe High School. Dale served his country honorably as a member of the United States Marine Corp. He married the love of his life, the former Vicky Lambert on July 11, 1981 at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Monroe. Dale was a family man and enjoyed every minute of raising his sons. He was a hard worker supporting his family as a press room foreman at the Monroe Evening News for over thirty years and as a master builder on countless homes for friends and family. Dale was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many summers fishing at the camper in St. Helen. He was extremely patient always willing to share his building skills or fishing tips with family and friends. In his younger years, Dale enjoyed playing softball and golf, and in his quiet time, he could be found watching his favorite sports teams, Tigers, Lions, Redwings and Wolverine’s. Dale Michael Hill, age 60, of Monroe passed away at 10:20 pm on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at his home surrounded by his beloved family. In addition to his father his passing was preceded by two brothers-in-law: Thomas Sachs and Mark B. Lambert. To cherish his memory, Dale leaves his wife of thirty-five years, Vicky; his mother: Shirley Hill of Monroe; two sons: Chad (Rebecca) Cochran and Brandon (Amanda) Hill both of Monroe; one sister: Dee Ann Sachs of West Branch; three brothers: David (Catherine) Hill of Apex, North Carolina; Donald (Loretta) Hill of Monroe and Dennis (Gregg Smith) Hill of Erie; five grandchildren: Vega Cochran, Lyra Cochran, Haley Hill, Mason Hill, and Brooklynn Hill; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may gather on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 2:00pm- 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. Veteran’s honors will take place at 11:00am on Monday, October 3, 2016 also at Merkle’s under the auspices of Monroe Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 1138. A Celebration of His Life will follow with Pastor Tim Iocoangeli of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park.
