Obituary of William Angelo Murray

William “Billy” Angelo Murray March 19, 1966 – August 12, 2016 William “Billy” Angelo Murray was born March 19, 1966 in Dearborn, Michigan. He was the only child born from the union of William P. Murray and the late Grace A. (Granata) Murray. Billy attended Monroe High School. For many years, Billy was employed as an assembler in the automotive industry for Ford Motor Company. Billy shared the past thirty years with his partner Joy Coots. The couple raised their four children together and Billy cared for his stepdaughter as his own. Billy was a great friend. He always watched out for others, and being a family man; loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and his spouse. Billy had an ear for music and enjoying singing. He was extremely proud of recent endeavors including: starting a band “Earth Below Us,” and a partnership with the Noble family starting a locksmith business for the boys: Lock and Roll Locksmith. Billy was a big dreamer, he enjoyed traveling, and wherever he went he left a major impact on those he met along the way. He was well-known for his long, dark locks of hair and his attention to detail and always looking his best. Billy, age 50, passed away unexpectedly at his Flat Rock home on Friday, August 12, 2016. His passing was preceded by his mother. To cherish his memory, Billy leaves his longtime partner: Joy Coots; his father: William P Murray; three sons: Billy (Megan) Towalski of Dundee, Josh (Katie Ray) Murray of Monroe, and Nick Murray of Flat Rock; one stepdaughter: Brandy Rice; five grandchildren: Hailey Murray, Briar Ray, Aidan Ray, Abel Towalski and Nathaniel; and good friend: Raymond Noble Jr. of Flat Rock. Friends may gather from 9:00am until 11:00am on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 11:00am also at Merkle’s with Reverend BJ McDaniel pastor of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial. Memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with funeral arrangements.
