Please share a memory of Wendell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Wendell Marvin Harwood was born on December 19, 1934, in Carleton, Michigan. He was one of five children born to the union of John Harwood and Gerturde (Hastings) Harwood.

On February 9, 1954, Wendell married the love of his life, the former Virginia Lozon. Together the couple were blessed with three daughters and a son.  Wendell was a proud member of the UAW Local 723 and provided for his family by working in production for the Ford Motor Company for over thirty years prior to his retirement.

Wendell was a member of the Detroit Beach Boat Club and enjoyed spending time on Lake Erie fishing for walleye and perch. He often took boat trips to Cedar Point or sailed to Ludington, Michigan during the fall to fish for salmon on Lake Michigan. For over fifteen years he played guitar and sang in a country music band.  A very talented woodworker, he enjoyed making his own fishing lures. His true woodworking passion came out while using his scroll saw for intarsia.

Virginia worked many years at La-Z-Boy which required her to travel across the United States.  Wendell accompanied her on many of these trips in their mobile home. The couple visited Tennessee, California, Arizona, Mississippi, and North Carolina.  Later in life they spent many of the cold months wintering in Webster, Florida.
