Obituary of Betty J. Goethe

Betty J. Goethe, age 89, of Dundee formerly of Monroe, passed away at 3:36 AM, Friday, March 11, 2016 at Regency of Canton in Canton Township, Michigan. She was born in Monroe on January 9, 1927 the daughter of Norman and Elsie (Klatt) Zarend. Following graduation at Monroe High School she married Harmon F. Goethe Jr. February 2, 1945. He passed away on September 3, 1998. She is a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee. Her survivors include two sons Frederick (Linda) Goethe of Canton and Richard Goethe of Harrison, MI; her daughter Jane (Thomas) Motylinski of Dundee; brother Bill Zarend; grandchildren Traci, Troy, Cory, Ryanne, Ashley, Scott and Maria; great-grandchildren Cassidy, Logan, Mason, Hannah, Dylan, Grady, Marisa and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harmon, brothers Ed and Norman and sister Helen Kivell. In accordance with her wishes cremation has been held. Friends may call from 10 AM until an 11 AM Memorial Service on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church, 460 Riley Street in Dundee. Officiating will be Rev. Jennifer Kiefer, pastor of the church. Cremains interment will follow the services at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee.
