Obituary of Harold S. Bilotta
Rev. Harold S. Bilotta, Sr., a man who followed and practiced the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Bible, age 81 of Dundee, passed away at Monroe Promedica Regional Hospital on Friday, January 1, 2016. Rev. Bilotta is the retired pastor of the Dundee Assembly of God. He was born January 11, 1934 at Fairmont, West Virginia the son of Anthony and Mildred (Lee) Bilotta. He married the former Margarete E. Metzger June 19, 1954 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After graduating from school, Rev. Bilotta attended and graduated in 1956 from the Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri. Over the years he had churches in 1956-57 at the Ozarks Mountains, in Indianhead, Maryland, moved to Chelsea and Dexter area, coming to Dundee in 1966 to take over pastorate of the Dundee Assembly of God. Over the years in Dundee he was a bus driver, taught as a substitute teacher in Dundee, worked at a Peanut Factory in Chelsea, worked summers at Ford Motor Co. in Livonia and Dearborn, was a prison chaplain at Milan and Cassidy Lake, bailed hay and was also a prolific writer and a very patriotic individual. He loved baseball and was a good player in his younger days and was also an avid historian. He retired from the Dundee Assembly of God in 2004. He is survived by his wife Margarete; sons Harold (Steve) Bilotta Jr. and David both of Adrian; daughters Carole (Vern) Guindon of Dundee and Jennifer (Randy) Eller of N. Little Rock, Arkansas; sister Kathy Bilotta of Ann Arbor; grandchildren Brandon (Taylor) Eller, Garrett (Amber) Eller, Nathan (Bailey) Eller and Connor Eller, Jared Guindon, Stephen (Kelly) Bilotta, Jasmine Bilotta; great-grandchildren Jace Ryan Bilotta, Hayes Eller and Jenna Reece Eller on the way; sisters in law Eleanor Frye and Rosina Metzger. He was preceded in death by brothers in law Carl Frye and Ted Metzger. Friends may call Friday from 2 – 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156) He will lie in state from 10 AM until 11 AM services on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Dundee Assembly of God. Officiating Rev. Tobin Tidswell. Interment will be in Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor. Contributions may be made to the family for a memorial to be decided at a later date.
