Obituary of James P. Carros
James Porter Carros, age 76, a lifetime resident of Monroe County, Michigan, passed away on March 12, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Monroe, Michigan, the son of a Greek immigrant, George Carros (Carakatsanis) and Mildred (Ferris) Carros. He graduated from Dundee High School in 1957. Jim was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp. receiving an honorable discharge in 1961. He married Emily (Parmer) Carros in 1966 in Milan, Michigan. He worked at the state of Michigan Ypsilanti Regional Psychiatric Hospital and the Center for Forensic Psychiatry for 40 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting with his son, fishing with her granddaughters and riding his ATV with his buddy, Mike. Jim is survived by his wife Emily Carros of Dundee; a son Jason (Kristine) Carros and granddaughters Alyssa and Haley. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call on Monday from 1-3 and 5-8 P.M. at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156/888-383-4176) Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11 A.M., Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Nicolaos H. Kotsis, pastor at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Ann Arbor. Military services will be conducted by the Dundee Veterans Military Group. Cremation will follow the services with cremains interment later at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee.
