Obituary of Harold Durrant

Harold Fredrick Durrant was born in Toledo on February 26, 1947. He was one of three boys born from the union of the late Harry Thomas and Jeanny (Montgomery) Durrant. Harold attended Jerusalem Elementary School in Curtice and later graduated from Clay High School in Oregon, Ohio.
Harold worked as a commercial fisherman for six years. At the same time he served as a tool and die apprentice for Bunting Brass and Bronze in Toledo, using these skills to serve several other companies as well. For ten years, Harold, was employed by Toledo Scale.
Harold also was an entrepreneur owning several different businesses. He started his company Star Executive Security in 1985 operating it for fourteen years. Harold had also been the principle of Sweet Things Bakery on Telegraph for thirteen years. He remarried Loraine on November 23, 1991 in Monroe. Harold took a medical retirement in 1992.
Harold was extremely active in his church, Monroe Alliance Church where he had served in the capacity of Deacon for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying fishing, hunting, camping, and golfing. More than anything, Harold was a proud and loving family man, and he was very devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Harold "Tiny" Durrant, age 67 of Newport passed away at 6:24pm, Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by his second wife: Marilyn on October 15, 1989; and his two brothers: Thomas and Robert Durrant.
To cherish his memory, Harold leaves his loving wife Loraine Durrant; four children: Kevin Durrant of Toledo, Ohio, Cathy (Joseph) Caswell of Monroe, David Rozmiarek of Jackson, and Ruth Rozmiarek-Lynch of Monroe; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 9:00am to 11:00am on Tuesday, December 20, 2014 at Monroe Alliance Church, 3975 S. Custer Road, Monroe, Michigan (734)241-7711. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00am with Reverend Mark Blake officiating. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with his arrangements.
