Janice Marie Evans
December 16, 1951 - March 31, 2011
Janice Marie Marlow was born in Monroe on December 16, 1951. She was the daughter of William G. Marlow and the late Nola (Smith) Marlow. Janice graduated from Jefferson High School.
She married the love of her life Stephen M. Evans on June 15, 1974 at Trinity Lutheran Church.
For more than thirty-nine years, Janice worked in retail. Recently, because of declining health she took a medical retirement. Janice had been employed as a Signing Specialist and worked for Associated Supply and Target. She was one of the first hired at Target when they opened their store in Monroe.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Janice loved sewing baby blankets, cooking for her family and friends, and could often be found sitting on her front porch. She loved to travel Up North and always considered it a blessing. She had a generous heart and went out of her way to put others first. She was well known for her patience, her devotion to her boys, and her passion for spoiling her grandchildren. She was the creator of 3-F night, - "Free Food Friday" which was her opportunity to allow her grandchildren to eat whatever they wanted every Friday night. Janice also enjoyed collecting humming birds, owls, and Bradford Plates.
Janice Marie Evans age 59 of Monroe passed away at 6:15pm, Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Mercy Memorial Hospital where she had been for nine days. She had been in declining health for many months. In addition to her mother, her passing was preceded by a brother: Roger Marlow, aunt: Fanny Smith, and grandparents.
She leaves to cherish a beloved husband Stephen of Monroe; father: William G. Marlow of Topinabee, MI; two sons: Jason (Bobbi) Evans of Monroe and Chad Evans of Monroe; two brothers: Tom (Cathy) Marlow of Monroe and Loyd Marlow of Ohio; one sister: Wilma Jean (Larry) Beaird of Texas; and two beloved grandsons: Austin and Jacob Evans of Monroe.
Jan will be greatly missed by her family, loving grandchildren and her little puppy, Horatio
Friends may gather from 1:00-8:00pm, Sunday, April 3, at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185 where a Celebration of Her Life will be held at 11:00am, Monday, April 4, 2011. The Rev. Mark Witte Associate Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn.
