Judith "Judy" Kathleen Markey
August 19, 1946 - October 22, 2010
Judith Kathleen White was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 19, 1946. She was one of four children born from the union of the late Melvin H. White and the late Josephine (Mozak) White. She grew up in North Toledo and graduated from Whitmer High School with the Class of 1964.
Judith married the love of her life Peter Markey in April of 1977 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Toledo.
For more than thirty-two years Judy worked as the Manager of Guardian Self Storage in Monroe. She loved interaction with people and she found her work very enjoyable.
Judy was a woman of faith, a trait that she has impressed upon her son: Larry. She attended Zion Lutheran Church in Monroe, and was a member of their Friends in Faith (Ladies Aid) and Altrusa International of Monroe. Judy enjoyed contributing in her community and participating with her group's service projects.
Judy was in love with her family and especially with her granddaughter: Alayna. She enjoyed gardening. Judy loved to celebrate holidays and her favorite two were those of Christmas and Easter.
Judith K. Markey age 64 of LaSalle passed away at 5:40pm, Friday, October 22, 2010 after a twenty year battle with cancer at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her beloved Peter on October 23, 2003, and a sister: Sherry Clark in August of 2006.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son: Larry D. Markey and his fiancé: Amy Newbury of Toledo; one brother: Melvin (Dawn) White of Erie; one sister: Vicky (Jim) White of Tecumseh; a granddaughter: Alayna Marie Markey of Toledo; one nephew: James White; and three nieces: Lindsay, Jennifer, and Kimberlee White.
Friends may gather from 12:00pm until 8:00pm, Monday, October 25, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street in Erie (734) 848-5185. A private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 11:00am, Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, 186 Cole Road with Rev. Gary Tryggestad and Rev. Ross Ulrich pastors of the church co-officiating.
