Marian Young
January 21, 1928 - November 4, 2010
Marian Hollingsworth was born on January 21, 1928 in Monroe, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Charles Marian Hollingsworth and the late Mable (Mexico) Hollingsworth. Marian attended Monroe High School.
She married her true love Glen Alvin Young on November 15, 1958 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. From this union came the birth of two children: Charles and Sherry. Marian attended Beauty School. By the time Marian had completed her education Glen had finished an addition to their home in Frenchtown that would serve as a beauty shop. The addition of the shop allowed Marian to work and raise the couple's two, young children.
Marian had many other interests. For more than twenty years she was a sales representative for Avon. She had also been a member of Avon's President's Club. Marian enjoyed making ceramics and had won first prize at the Michigan State Fair in the past for a ceramic lamp that she created. She loved to play the lottery, and would sit for hours trying to figure out the next winning number. For many years she owned and operated a candy apple and snow cone stand at the Monroe County Fair which she had inherited from her parents. More than anything else, Marian was extremely proud of her family and loved to talk about her grandchildren and great grandchildren to anyone that would listen. She liked listening to country music.
Marian Young age 82 of Monroe passed away at 1:15pm, Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a sister: Rosella Rupp.
She leaves to cherish her memory a husband of 52 years: Glen Alvin Young of Monroe; one beloved son: Charles (Jacquelyn) Young of LaSalle; one dear daughter: Sherry (Robert) Cebina of Monroe; six grandchildren: Mariann (Christopher) Reaume, Julie Ann Cebina, Shari Lee (Greg) Lambert, Robert Charles (Holly) Cebina, Traci Ann (Scott) Micheau, and Ann Marie Cebina; and fifteen great grandchildren.
