Obituary of Richard Szerszen

Richard Matthew Szerszen March 14, 1964 - September 8, 2010 Richard Matthew Szerszen was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 14, 1964. He was one of three children born from the union of Richard L. Szerszen and the late Roxanna (Goldenstein) Szerszen. He attended Jefferson High School and served in the United States Navy. Richard married Ruth Baumia. For more than twenty years, Richard worked for the Detroit Beach Restaurant and Pizzeria. He served many customers as a cook. Richard loved children and loved the time that he shared with his nephew and nieces. He was a nature enthusiast, liked to visit the beach, and was an avid bicyclist. Richard had a great sense of humor, and he enjoyed the company of others. Throughout the years, Richard could be found playing in several Pool and Dart leagues. He had recently become a member of the Teen Challenge Bible Study. Richard Matthew Szerszen age 46 of Monroe passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at his home. His passing in addition to his mother in November of 2009 was preceded by his wife: Ruth and his grandparents. To cherish his memory he leaves a father: Richard L. Szerszen of Monroe; two sisters: April (Mike) Edmondson of Monroe and Kelly (Duane) Lucio of Carleton; two stepdaughters: JoAnne Baumia of Monroe and Misty Baumia of Monroe; numerous grandchildren; one nephew: Mike; and three nieces: Tabatha, Megan, and Brienne. Friends may gather from 6:00pm until a Celebration of His Life to be held at 7:00pm, Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. The Rev. Gary Pickrell, Associate Pastor of Victory Temple Church in Monroe will officiate. Memorial donations for those who desire are suggested to the Szerszen family.
