Timothy Adam Smith was born in Monroe, Michigan on June 15, 1985. He was one of three boys born from the union of Gerald Smith and Patricia (Pierce) Smith. He attended Lincoln School and graduated from Orchard Center High School in 2003. While in high school he enjoyed being a member of the Young Marines and participating with their events.
Tim had a passion for the outdoors. As a young man he played baseball in the Custer League in Monroe Township. He also found a love for hunting and fishing.
Tim was engaged to be married to Elizabeth "Liz" Apperson. He was looking forward to their wedding date of June 13, 2011. Tim was a proud father to three children. He enjoyed sharing his love of fishing with his boys.
Tim was not afraid of hard work, and he was skilled at many things. In fact, he actually enjoyed manual labor and spoke fondly of his bond with Richard Apperson, Liz's father, prior to his passing. He also had enjoyed his employment for Backyard Storage Solutions. Tim had spent time plumbing and had loved his work with Habitat for Humanity.
Tim liked to collect knives and he had attended Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church.
Timothy Adam Smith age 25 of Monroe passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 4, 2010. His passing was preceded by his maternal grandparents: George and Mary Pierce and paternal grandfather: Lonnie Smith.
His memory will be cherished by his fiancé: Liz Apperson of Monroe; parents: Gerald and Patricia Smith of Monroe; his mamaw (grandmother); Bonnie Smith of Monroe; three children: Timothy Adam Jr., Zachary Thomas, and Tayler Rayavon; two brothers: Todd of Monroe and Jeff (Shari) of Carleton; three uncles: David (Kandy) Pierce of Bucyrus, Ohio, Clifford Pierce of Kingsport, TN, and Terry Pierce of Monroe; and aunt: Jeanie (Bill) Turner of Monroe; and a nephew: Elijah of Carleton
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 9:00pm, Friday, August 6, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 where a Celebration of His Life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, August 7, 2010. The Rev. Ron Morgan of Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church and the Rev. John Fultz formerly of Suder Avenue Baptist officiating. Procession will follow to Woodland Cemetery for burial.
