Obituary of Eileen Freimark
Eileen Mae Dunnam was born on September 7, 1926 in Monroe. She was one of four children born from the union of the late Daniel Dunnam and the late Olga (Nielson) Dunnam. Eileen attended St. Mary's Academy until the 11th grade, and then moved to California where she graduated from Verdugo Hills High School.
Eileen married the love of her life, Norman Lucien Freimark, on June 29, 1946. In addition to her taking care of the needs of her husband and daughter, she helped support her family as a Cashier for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company in Toledo for over 23 years.
Eileen and Norman shared their love for fishing generationally down to their great-grandchildren. Together they loved traveling and camping, spending twenty years wintering in Bowling Green, Florida. Although Eileen could be feisty at times, she was known for her loving and giving sprit. She was a lifetime member of the Erie VFW Post 3929 Auxillary and in her spare time, she could be found using her talents crafting, playing bingo or playing her hand at euchre.
Eileen Mae Freimark, age 89, of Monroe, passed away at 2:57pm on June 30, 2016 at Wellspring Lutheran Home surrounded by her loving family. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband of sixty-seven years, Norman; two sisters : Bernice Parker and Edna Stoner ; one brother: Daniel Dunnam Jr; two grandchildren: Michael and Cynthia Shock.
To cherish her memory, Eileen leaves a daughter: Dawn (Alvin) Shock of Erie; one grandson: Norman (Heather) Fortner of Henderson, Colorado; two great -granddaughters: Autumn and Lindsey Fortner of Henderson, Colorado; extended family: Sandra Shock of Florida, Thomas (Valarie) Shock of West Branch, and Rose (Duane) Wertz of Byron, Michigan; multiple great and great- great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 10:00am until a VFW Auxillary Service at 12:00pm under the auspices of Erie Post 3925. A celebration of Her Life will follow with Pastor John Shinkel of Wellspring Lutheran Services officiating at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street, Erie (734) 848-5185.
