Marsha Lenora Rains was born June 3, 1953 in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of six children from the union of the late Warren G. Rains and the late Marcetta (Dozier) Rains. Marsha received her Associates Degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Toledo School of Nursing.
Marsha married James Lawson on May 31, 1985 in Monore. Hard work and caring for others came naturally to Marsha. She was employed as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Tender Care of Monroe for twenty-five years before taking employment as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Motherhouse.
Marsha had a heart of gold, a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. She cherished time spent with her family and enjoyed decorating and hosting for the holidays. Marsha was known for her delicious creations and shared them with many. She looked forward to the countless Harley Davidson and motorcycle charity adventures with her husband. Marsha loved to shop and in her quiet time, she liked to read all types of novels and sip coffee.
Marsha Lenora Lawson, age 62, of Monroe passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her brother: Robert Rains.
To cherish her memory she leaves her husband of thirty-one years: James Lawson; three sons: Richard (Angie) Lawson, Joshua David Lawson and Christopher Paul (Brittany) Rains all of Monroe; her mother-in-law: Patricia "Mamaw Pat" Leason; four siblings: Brenda "Sue" Monday, Warren (Natalie) Rains Jr., Sandra Rains and Clayton Rains all of Monroe; two grandchildren: Haley Lawson and "RJ" DuVall; two canine companions: Harley and Davidson.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday May 9, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734)241-7070. She will lie in state from 9:00am until the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00am, Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at IHM, Motherhouse Chapel, 610 West Elm with Father Robert Schramm officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park for entombment.
