Obituary of Shaun O'Hern
Please share a memory of Shaun to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shaun Patrick O'Hern was born on November 27, 1956 in New London, Wisconsin. He was one of three children born from the union of the late James and Carol (Ward) O'Hern. After graduating high school in Wisconsin, Shaun enlisted into the United States Navy, where he would serve his country for six years.
Shaun married the love of his life, the former Mary Katherine Maynard on June 25, 1983 in Saratoga Springs, New York. From this union would come the birth of three children. He supported his family through employment at Detroit Edison, Fermi 2 plant, for over thirty-two years, as an operator, until taking medical retirement in March.
Shaun was a more than avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, on any given day he wore some sort of green and yellow packer themed clothing. Recently he became a stock holder in the Packers, often bragged about being co-owner. Aside from just football, he loved wrestling and softball. He held on strong and enjoyed watching his grandson Cody O'Hern win his first gold medal in wrestling. He was a wrestling referee and softball umpire for 27 years, he won awards for the Referee association, and has a sportsmanship award named after him.
Shaun enjoyed his life, he was proud of his ancestry and proud of his family. He enjoyed the little things in life and having a cold one now and then. Through his battle the last few years, Shaun fought all the way to beat his cancer, never giving up the fight.
