Helmut joined my sixth grade class at Trinity Lutheran School after his fifth grade teacher, my aunt, Eloise Schmidt, helped him acclimate to all-things Monroe. Throughout the rest of our school days, I counted him a good friend. Then I only saw him at an occasional Class of '64 reunion, the last being our 50th where I was able to spend at least a few minutes with him. When my first daughter was born in 1973, and I was searching for a good German girl's name to go with "Kurtz," I remembered Helmut's sister, Erika. And so she is!

I had Mr. Jaguits for ninth grade homeroom and remember him as a kind man. Many years later he helped me translate some family history information from German to English. Condolences to his family.

My condolences to the Jagutis family. Mr. Jagutis was a wonderful man who loved his students unconditionally. My brother, Jason, stayed with Gucci (the Black's family nickname for Mr. J) for a week while Mom & I were out of town. This was so characteristic of the man I knew; opeing his home to others. His passion & love for basketball made playing for him fun & exciting. Meredith, we are praying for you and your family. Much love.

We are sending our condolences to the family. We knew Helmut for several years through his friend Pearl. He was a fun person and we had many good times playing cards. He will be missed.
