Nicklas "Nick" "Nickie" Raymond Wilkerson
December 22, 1959 - March 16, 2016
Nicklas Raymond Wilkerson was born December 22, 1959 in Monroe. He was the son of the late Andrew Wilkerson and the late Rose (Badalamenti) Bullock being raised by his stepfather: Ben Bullock. He attended Monroe High School graduating with the class of 1978.
Nick married the love of his life, the former Elizabeth (Keehn) Callahan on July 7, 1983 in Harrisville, Michigan.
Nick created an important network of resources with employment at Troy-wood then Ohio Plate Glass, before settling with Litex Incorporated. There he would spend eighteen years as a Project Manager designing and building architectural windows used in many capacities including New York and Atlanta Public Schools. He retired on September 1, 2012 due to his health.
Nick was best known for his outgoing personality and sarcasm. He was blessed with common sense and a strong work ethic. He was an excellent mentor to his children and fellow co-workers and a fantastic grandfather. Nick loved the outdoors; Autumn color tours, camping, hunting, and fishing. Over the years he played the bass in several garage bands. Nick was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Michigan State Spartans, and unfortunately the Detroit Lions. He cherished keeping up with family and old friends on Facebook. Nick was a member of the Canvasback Gun Club, National Rifle Association, and the National Republican Party.
Nicklas Raymond Wilkerson, 56, of Monroe, passed away at 7:19pm on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Promedica Toledo Hospital. His passing was preceded by his parents.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his beloved wife of thirty-two years: Liz of Monroe; his father: Ben Bullock of Monroe; two sons: Eric (Ashleigh) Wilkerson of Monroe and Jeremy (Stephanie) Callahan of LaSalle; a brother: Larry (Dolly) Wilkerson of Wapakoneta, Ohio ; a sister: Sherrill (Dennis) Altice of Decatur, Alabama; four grandchildren: Hope Wilkerson, Ava Callahan, Savanna Callahan and Chloe Callahan; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, in-laws; and a few out-laws.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm-8:00pm on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734)384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 11:00am on Monday, March 21, 2016 also at Merkle's with Pastor Roy Southerland of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn for burial.
