Obituary of Richard Bomay

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
A wonderful and "perfect" husband to Mary (Reid) Bomay, Dick was a father to Richard and Sandra, David and Holly, Michael and Amy Bomay. He was a grandfather to Brendan, Caitlin, Evan, Owen and Alexander Bomay, and a step grandfather to Brandon and Brittany and step great grandfather to Maddison, Emma and Aniston. Richard was preceded in death by his mother Marie Louise (Keller) and father James Eli Bomay, brothers and sisters; Virginia, Gerald and Marylyn "Tootsie". He was Uncle Dicky to Jerry, Janet, Joanne, Jimmy Bomay, Reid, Schlorff, Fisher-Reid and Rennie. He was a devout Catholic parishioner of Saint Stanislaus Koska in Wyandotte where he was a member of a church group the "Leftovers". He also attended Saint Anne's, Monroe and Saint Charles, Newport. Richard was raised in Detroit and attended Saint Cecilia's High School graduating with the Class of 1947. He spent his summers in Frenchtown Township at Bay Crest Beach. His father also had a farm in Monroe County where he enjoyed great memories as a child which became part of the Pointe Mouillee State Game Area. He was an excellent role model to his sons teaching many valuable lessons. He was a caring husband to his wife Mary and lived his life for friends and family. Dick always enjoyed himself with his best friend Bill Gross. He never wanted anything from anyone except for them to be happy especially now that he is "gone gone." Richard served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a meat cutter for Kroger and never missed a day of work in thirty-two years. He retired from Kroger and worked for Bill at Riverfront Marina. He was very proud of his strong work ethic and passed that trait on to his three sons. He was an active member of the Stoney Pointe Peninsula Community and a 25 year member of the Detroit Beach Boat Club. Richard loved his "cottage" on Brest Bay but looked forward to snow birding each winter in New Port Richy, Florida. "I love you and like you" "Good night Dick" "Supervisor" "Mary, let's get the hell out of here!" You will be missed and remembered forever in our hearts. Friends may call from 10:00am until a Memorial Mass at 11:00am, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 8125 Swan Creek Road, Newport.
