Obituary of Tina Robertson

Tina Imogene Stepp was born in Campbell County, Tennessee on June 5, 1940. She was one of eight children born from the union of the late Robert and Alberta (Parrot) Stepp. She moved to Monroe as a young girl, and graduated in 1958 from Monroe High School.
She married the love of her life Merl Robertson at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church on March 21, 1959. From this union would come the birth of two children. Imogene worked for several local employers including Sears as a sales clerk, Laborer at La-Z-Boy, and performing clerical work for the credit union. Her life's work however, was that of being a foster mother for developmentally disabled adults. She held her license with the State of Michigan for more than thirty-two years taking care of God's precious children as if they were her own.
Imogene loved going to church and was a longtime member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. There she lent her voice; singing in a quartet with her sisters, participated with church broadcasts, and absolutely loved to attends Gospel Singings.
Imogene was also an excellent cook. She enjoyed sharing her culinary creations with others, and loved dinner parties. She cherished the time she spent with her grandsons. Loved to hike and spent countless time at the family's Northern Michigan Cottage near Roscommon.
Tina Imogene Robertson, age 75, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a son: Merl Damon Robertson, son-in-law: James Florey; and sister: Virgie McNew.
To cherish her memory she leaves a beloved husband of nearly fifty-seven years: Merl of Monroe; a daughter: Connie Florey of Monroe; six siblings: Mark Stepp, Bob (Ann) Stepp, June Stepp, Sandy (Ed) Fortner, Thomas (Pam) Stepp, Samuel (Darlene) Stepp; brother-in-law: Thomas Elwood McNew; and three grandchildren: Philip Zaborowski, Jacob Florey, and Cody Florey.
Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. She will lie in state from 10:00am until a Celebration of Her Life at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, 14260 South Dixie Highway. Procession will follow to Woodland Cemetery for burial.
