Eugene Raymond Stewart was born August 11, 1951 in Norwalk, Ohio. He was one of two children raised from the union of the late Jessie and the late Mabel (Shoemaker) Stewart. Eugene was a 1970 graduate of Sandusky High School.
Eugene married the love of his life, the former Deborrah Justice, on July 29, 1978 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sandusky. From this union came the birth of two children. Eugene is one of Jehovah's witnesses formally of the Sandusky East Congregation till joining the Flat Rock Congregation. He supported his family working at PTIQCS Detroit as a Maintenance Manager for more than fifteen years. Previously, he served as a police officer for Sandusky and Perkins Township Police Department.
Eugene enjoyed vacationing in Florida and spending time on the beach. He was a fabulous grandfather, father and husband. He valued his family and enjoyed the time with them. Eugene was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Browns, and Indians fan. He was hard working, well respected, well-loved and nothing could ever keep him down.
Eugene Raymond Stewart, 64, of Newport, passed away at 2:48am on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded by his parents.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife of thirty-seven years, Deborrah; two children: Kyle Stewart of Indiana and Jamie Stewart of Newport; a brother: Gerald Stewart of Missouri; and two grandchildren: Kayleigh Stewart and Michael Rothman.
Friends may gather from 3:00pm to 9:00pm on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe (734)384-5185. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 18755 Civic Park Drive, Riverview, Michigan with Mark Yates as speaker.
