Obituary of Michael Bezeau

Michael Dennis Bezeau was born in Monroe on August 21, 1947. He was one of eleven children born from the union of Donald and Dorothy (Mahn) Bezeau. He was a 1965 graduate of Monroe High School. Michael enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably and valiantly in Vietnam. He was severely injured earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Michael married the former Barbara Nickles on May 19, 1967 at St. Mary Parish in Monroe. For thirty-five years, Michael was employed at the Monroe County Road Commission. He rose through the ranks becoming a Superintendent serving until his retirement in 2007. Michael loved the company of others. He was a member of St. Michael Parish and later St. Mary. He was active with the VFW, visiting the Dundee and Monroe posts. Michael was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 2254 and Monroe Moose Lodge 884. Michael was a wonderful father and grandfather. He was a free spirit always a lot of fun to be around. He loved music and enjoyed dancing. Fishing and golfing were also favorite pastimes. He will best be remembered for his being down to earth and generosity towards others. Michael, age 68 of Monroe, passed away at home on Monday, February 15, 2016. He had been under the care of ProMedica Hospice of Monroe. His passing was preceded by his beloved wife on May 14, 2007 and a sister: Pam Bezeau-Toburen on November 24, 2015. To cherish his memory he leaves a son: Brian Bezeau of Monroe; two daughters: Buffy (Christopher) Watrous of Las Vegas and Missy (Chris) Anspaugh of Toledo; his parents: Donald and Dorothy Bezeauhis partner: Patricia McMurry of Monroe; eight brothers: Donald (Linda), Ronald, Randy (Lydia), Wayne (Pam), Eddie (David Tom), Robert (Michelle), Richard (Kathy), Dennis (Yvonne), one sister: Patty Laughlin; six grandchildren: Justin, Jordan, Jessica, and Corey Watrous, Cahill and Connor Anspaugh; two great grandchildren: Braden and Lilly. Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734)384-5185. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 19 also at Merkle's. Private entombment on Saturday February 20 at St. Joseph Cemetery will be under the auspices of Monroe VFW Post 1138.
