Obituary of June Cloum
Please share a memory of June to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
June Marie Becker was born in Monroe on May 16, 1937. She was one of four children born from the union of the late William Becker and Lillian (Hotchkiss) Becker. June was raised in a Catholic home being baptized and confirmed at St. Mary Catholic Church. She graduated in 1955 from Monroe High School.
June married the love of her life, James Michael Cloum on August 18, 1956 at St. Mary's Parish. Together, the couple would share in the birth of two wonderful sons. June was employed at the Harvest Table Restaurant, working as a waitress and manager, retiring in 1986 after thirty years.
Family was always top priority for June. Many wonderful memories were created at the Northern Michigan Cabin. She could often be found rafting down the river or snowmobiling. She loved family get-togethers and making Christmas cookies with her grandchildren most of all. Although she "retired" it was difficult to tell as she always seemed to be "waitressing" or serving others.
She enjoyed sewing and knitting, but baking was her passion and her special red sunset cake was a diner's delight. June also loved shopping for shoes and clothes, visiting casinos, playing cards and dice.
June Marie Cloum, age 78 of Monroe, passed away at 8:58pm on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Maple Ridge Farms Assisted Living in Hudson, Michigan. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her beloved husband, James, on August 17, 2009, and three siblings: William, Donald, and Mary Becker.
To cherish her memory she leaves two sons: Nicholas James (Gerry) Cloum and William Michael Cloum both of Monroe; three grandchildren: Kristy Thorn, Nicole Cloum, and Tosha Cloum; and five great grandchildren: Tyler Hawkins, Noah Francis, Bentley Francis, Lily Thorn and Nikolas Pancone.
