Obituary of Nancy Carleski
Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nancy Rose Carleski was born in Monroe on November 12, 1952. She was the daughter of the late Frank Carleski and the late Rosemary Huebel. At a young age she displayed a thirst for knowledge and a passion for adventure. Her love of learning led her to being an excellent honor roll student graduating with the Class of 1970 from Ida High School. Nancy furthered her studies attending Grand Valley State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology.
Nancy had a lifelong love affair with automobiles. This of course was nurtured by her devotion to Ford Motor Company and her twenty-six plus years of employment as an Automotive Engineer.
She loved to learn and her focus was on science, history, and discovery. She regularly visited The Henry Ford Museum. Nancy was very driven. When the economy soured and she was concerned about employment she didn't fret but sought knowledge taking night classes to become a Pharmaceutical Technician and had even studied to become a copywriter.
Nancy was a very well-rounded individual, an avid Detroit Tiger fan, talented gardener, season ticket holder at the Detroit Opera House, a ghost hunter, and membership in a local Astronomy Club. She loved animals as was evident with her membership and frequent visits to the Toledo Zoo and financial support of the ASPCA.
Her adventures involved world travel, twice tagging along on National Geographic Expeditions visiting Antarctica, the Netherlands, Scotland, and Wales. She had also allowed her work to take her to Japan, Germany, and Mexico.
She loved and cherished the time spent with her granddaughter, Alice.
Nancy, age 63, of Newport passed from this life on Saturday, January 30, 2016. Her loving family was by her side. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a half-brother: Robert Carleski.
To cherish her memory, Nancy leaves a beloved son: Patrick Carleski of Detroit; a beloved daughter: Amanda (Jason) Polger of Newport, two sisters: Patricia Carleski of Green, Ohio and Rita Carleski of Georgia; a half-brother: James (Rita) Carleski of Waterville, Ohio; and a cherished granddaughter: Alice Polger.
