Ronald Eugene Hoskins was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 6, 1940. He was one of three children born from the union of the late Elmer Hoskins and Sylvia (Mae) Hoskins Miles. Ronald grew up and attended school in Detroit.
For several years, Ronald worked as an Ambulance Attendant for American Ambulance. He later would take employment with General Motors Company in Detroit. He worked in the Paint Department at the Fleetwood Plant for more than twenty-five years until taking a medical retirement. Even after retiring, Ronald who wasn't afraid to work rejoined the workforce working Security at Mercy Memorial Hospital for ten additional years.
Ronald was a sports enthusiast. He especially enjoyed following his Detroit teams including the Tigers, Red Wings, and Lions. He intently listened to Ernie Harwell on the radio to catch play by play action with his family.
For several years, Ronald volunteered as the boys Little League and Cub Scout baseball league Coach and the girls' softball coach, and was the head of the South Rockwood Little League. Ronald had a great sense of humor and he loved to laugh and make others laugh. He liked music of all kinds, dancing, and great conversations with close friends.
Ronald Eugene Hoskins, age 75 of Monroe, passed away at 7:30am on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Advanced Healthcare Center in Toledo, Ohio. His passing was preceded by his parents.
To cherish his memory, Ronald leaves his three daughters: Kim (John) Marroquin of Livonia, Dawn Hoskins of Garner, North Carolina, and Krissy (Carlos) Calderas of Monroe; three sons: Ronald (Brenda) "Pook" Hoskins of Lizbon Falls, Maine, Montie Hoskins (Lindsey) of Novi, and Dennis (Christina) Hoskins of Greensboro, North Carolina; one sister: Dee Phillilps; one brother: Richard Hoskins; 12 grandchildren: Jessica, Mandy, Justin, Melissa, Austin, Makayla, Jacob, Gabby, Mason, Cody, Madden, and Kenzee; and one great grandchild: Juantonio.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service; 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 7:00pm on Wednesday, also at Merkle's with Deacon Mike Stewart of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church officiating and a close friend, Arika Elizabeth Stauder, to share.
