Gary was born in Toledo on April 13, 1947. He was the son of the late Melvin and Martha (Bentley) Taynor. Gary was an exceptional student graduating with the Class of 1965 from Bay City Central High School. He married his high school sweetheart Kay Tilley on May 27, 1967. Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked in intelligence as a Russian translator. Gary loved to read to keep his mind sharp. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, tubing, and spending time with the guys at the Mio cabin. He enjoyed traveling often on his Harley and taking day trips with his bride. Gary was employed by Conrail/Northfolk Southern as a Train Dispatcher retiring in 2008. He was a wonderful provider for his family and had a servant's heart for others. He showed his love for others with his generosity, often opening his home to those in need. A lifelong member of Calvary Bible Chapel he enjoyed mission work and spreading the love of Jesus Christ through all of his activities including the Christian Motorcycle Association. He was honest to a fault always making sure that others knew the truth. A doting grandfather he had unconditional love for each and every one of them. Gary Lee Taynor, age 68 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away at home unexpectedly on Monday, January 25, 2016. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by a sister: Brenda Taynor in 2008. To cherish his memory Gary leaves behind his wife, Kay of Bay City, Michigan; son: Gary M. Taynor of Toledo; daughter: Megan L Taynor (Valerie Megenuph) of Grand Ledge, Michigan; his adopted family: Jackie (Aaron) Frisch; many chosen children; several biological siblings; a dear friend: Lois Harris; two grandchildren: Jacob Holt and Nathaniel Megenuph; adopted grandchildren: Emalee, Skylar, Kaitlin, Darin, Blake, and the Frisch children; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Friends may gather from 10:00am until a Celebration of His Life at 11:00am on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Calvary Bible Chapel, 3740 West Alexis Rd, Toledo, Ohio 43623. Pastor Tim Marr and Pastor Jackie Frisch will co-officiate. Merkle Funeral Service, Erie (734) 848-5815 has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Taynor Family.
