Obituary of Charlotte Bayer
Please share a memory of Charlotte to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charlotte Jane Meszaros was born in Erie on July 31, 1933. She was one of nine children born from the union of the late John and Ruth (Berry) Meszaros. She attended Monroe Schools graduating with the Class of 1951.
Charlotte married the love of her life, Leonard Bayer on April 4, 1952, and from this union would come the birth of five children. She took great pride in caring for her own family's needs. Charlotte was very protective of her children, and although she allowed them to fall and make mistakes she would swoop in and help them back up.
For more than thirty years Charlotte also worked in long-term care at Frenchtown Convalescent Center. She excelled at her Nursing Assistant position many times caring for patients younger than her. In 2003 she was chosen as Monroe County Nursing Assistant of the Year by her peers. The last several years of her career she worked in Homecare.
Charlotte enjoyed a good laugh and kept others on their toes with her quick wit. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she enjoyed preparing meals for them on their special days. For many years Charlotte attended Calvary Baptist Church in Dundee. She often rode the church bus with her grandchildren. Always the caregiver, Charlotte could be counted on to lend a helping hand whether in the nursery or cooking for funeral dinners.
