Marilyn Kay Townsend was born in Riverside, California on March 3, 1953. She was one of seven children born from the union of the late Cecil Leroy and Mildred Elaine (Behrends) Townsend. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1971.
She would meet her future husband, Charles Fetterly. The couple soon after was joined in marriage on September 25, 1971 in Monroe. From this union would come the birth of three children.
Marilyn worked for more than twenty years for the Tawas City Schools. She was employed as a Parapro for the middle school assisting with clerical, library, and supervising detention among other responsibilities retiring in 2013. She was an avid supporter of the Tawas Athletic Boosters.
She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and cross-stitch making beautiful baby blankets and hats. She sold some of her work, but truly enjoyed sharing them with others. Marilyn was also gifted in the kitchen as an excellent baker and cook.
