Obituary of Marvin Kinne

Marvin Arthur Kinne was born in Monroe on May 28, 1924. He was one of three children born from the union of the late Chester and Irene (Adler) Kinne. He attended Monroe High School where he was a baseball standout graduating with the Class of 1942. After high school he briefly played professional baseball before enlisting in the United States Army. Marvin served honorably from 1944-1946 with the Medical Corp in the European Theatre receiving a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He married Vida Bower in 1946 and from this union would come the birth of two children. Marvin was never afraid of hard work. He supported his family from 1946-1956 with employment at the River Raisin Paper Company. For the next twelve years he was employed by Consumer Power. In 1968 he took a position with Chrysler where he would work as a machine operator until retiring in 1986.
Marvin married the former Barbara (Ainslie) Lazette on October 19, 1976 in Toledo.
He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 372, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3925, Monroe Greenhorn Senior League Bowling, Monroe Seniors and Frenchtown Senior's where he participated in the pool league. An avid golfer he was a member of Green Meadows Club consistently playing until this year.
Marvin Arthur Kinne age 91 of Monroe passed away at 5:48am, Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by his first wife: Vida; and a brother: Allen Kinne.
To cherish his memory he leaves a beloved wife of thirty-nine years: Barbara of Monroe; one son: Gary (Sharon) Kinne of Tennessee; one daughter: Karen (Ralph) Crutchfield of Carleton; two step-daughters: Cynthia Lazette (Walter Werts) and Michelle Marie Lazette both of San Diego; a sister: Luella Grant of Monroe; and four grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 10:00-11:00am on Friday, January 8, 2016 in the church parlor at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 201 South Monroe Street. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 11:00am also at the church with Reverend Evans C. Bentley, Pastor officiating. Lunch will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Merkle Funeral Service; South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070 has been entrusted with his arrangements.
