Leslie "Les" Eugene Schaffer was born in Monroe on January 29, 1967. He was one of ten children born from the union of John Edward Schaffer and Jacqueline (Burgess) Schaffer. Les attended Airport schools and later received his General Education Diploma.
Les married the love of his life, the former Kelly Ferry on March 23, 2002 in Monroe. From this union the couple would share in raising six children. Les provided for his family self-employed for Schaffer Construction for fifteen years and as a Mason for Talon Industries for the past four years.
Les had a heart of gold; his gentle spirit was sincere and compassionate. His appearance was essential and his charming smile and great sense of humor was alluring. Les loved to socialize and have fun with friends and looked forward to spending time with his family, watching movies, riding bicycle, playing horseshoes or simply playing catch. He appreciated the outdoors, especially at the cabin in the Upper Peninsula.
