Obituary of Joseph Newbert
Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph Michael Newbert was born in Romulus, Michigan on July 21, 1953. He was one of six children born from the union of the late Winton David and the late Florence Theresa (Wojciechowski) Newbert.
Joseph married the former Deborah "Debbie" Hall on February 14, 1980. Together the couple raised two sons. For more than twenty years, Joseph provided for his family with employment at Ford Motor Company. He worked in several capacities including operating a Hi-Lo at the River Rouge Dearborn Assembly Plant. He left work around 2000.
Joseph was a sports fanatic. Although he didn't play himself he was an avid fan and made time to follow his favorite teams. He watched games on television, but his favorite pastime was listening to the radio. Over the years, Joseph compiled an amazing knowledge of sports trivia, seemingly knowing everything.
He spent much of his free time fishing. His favorite places were along Lake Erie and at Huroc Park in Flat Rock. He also loved Northern Michigan and the time he spent in Rose City on the Rifle River and Moon Lake. Joseph also traveled by bike, preferring this option to get around over driving a car.
He had created a special bond with his grandchildren. Joseph loved spending time with them and spoiling them with candy and other little trinkets. The grandchildren referred to him as being a "Great" grandpa, even though on more than one occasion they proclaimed that he was "Full of Beans."
