William Donald Hicks was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 19, 1970. He was the son of the late Marvin John Hicks Sr. and Donna Ruth (Swartz) Hicks. William attended Monroe Public Schools graduating with the Class of 1988.
He married the love of his life, the former Teresa Johnson on November 25, 2000 in North Carolina. Over the years, Bill worked for several employers in many capacities. He had served as a Hi-Lo Driver for TWB in Monroe and as a Laborer for Gilford Mills in North Carolina. Bill took a medical retirement in 2015.
Bill enjoyed living an active lifestyle. He loved to fish and play pool. Bill was an excellent bowler and as a member of the United States Bowling Congress; he had bowled a 700 series and had a 298 game. He was an avid sports fan and was a devout follower of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Carolina Panthers, and the Detroit Tigers. Bill also never missed watching "professional" wrestling. He loved Rock & Roll and painstakingly selected personal ring tones for all his family and friends on his mobile phone. But more than anything else, Bill loved his time spent with the children and grandchildren.
William "Bill" Donald Hicks, age 45 of Dundee, passed away at 1:20 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Magnum Care of Monroe. His passing was preceded by his father.
To cherish his memory, Bill leaves his mother: Donna; his wife: Teresa; a son: Shawn Hicks; one daughter: Elizabeth Hicks; seven step-children: Lateisha, Shanta, Robert, Brandon, Terrell, Lakeisha, and Markel; two sisters: Megan Hicks and Paula (Doug) Fisk; one brother: Marvin J. (Dawn) Hicks Jr.; and six beloved grandchildren.
Friends may gather on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 2:00pm until 7:00 pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 7:00pm, also at Merkle's with Reverend Rodger Papenhagen of Dundee Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Roselawn.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the care that Bill received through ProMedica Hospital and Hospice and Magnum Care of Monroe during his illness.
