Obituary of Michael Getzinger

Michael Lloyd Getzinger was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 16, 1974. He was one of two children born from the union of the late Michael D. and Judy (Onisko) Getzinger. After completing High School, Michael attended Owens Community College and the University of Findlay on a football scholarship for two years. Michael had a profound love for animals, and rescuing those in need. He enjoyed his baby chicks, his pet pig Razor, and his pit bull rescues. He also loved to stay fit and strong. Michael, nicknamed "Rock" was a member of Super Fitness in Toledo, Go Mad Fitness and Powerhouse gym in Monroe. He put his strength to good use, working as security at a local club for the past several years. He really enjoyed his work, and had made many friends along the way. Michael was very loyal and a great friend, taking care of others around him. He loved his tight family, and adored his nieces. He cherished the time he had taking care of his grandmother before she passed. Michael was very opinionated when it came to politics, and you could easily get lost in conversations. Michael Lloyd Getzinger, age 40 of LaSalle, Michigan passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, October 31, 2015. In addition to his father, his passing was preceded by his grandparents. To cherish his memory he leaves his mother: Judy Getzinger of LaSalle; one sister: Kristen Getzinger of Toledo; an aunt: Nancy Onisko of LaSalle, and three nieces: Olivia, Alyssa, and Madison Johnson of LaSalle; and many friends. Friends may gather from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street, Erie (734) 848-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 5:00pm, also at Merkle's. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
