Ronald "Ron" Leroy Pierce
August 6, 1940 - October 29, 2015
Ronald Leroy Pierce was born at home in Detroit, Michigan on August 6, 1940. He was the son of the late William Pierce and the late Luella (Eagle) Pierce. Ronald attended Lincoln Park High School. He left school enlisting in the United States Army where he earned his GED. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam Conflict. He later attended Wayne County Community College obtaining his Associate Degree in Industrial Arts.
Ronald worked more than forty years for the Ford Motor Company. He worked as a Tool and Die Leader at the Dearborn plant. He retired in 2007, but he didn't necessarily slow down. Ron was involved as a volunteer at the local VFW, transporting vets to appointments for medical treatments. He loved his Harley Davidson. He was a great connoisseur of ice cold beer. Ron was a member of Newport Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3943 and the Winter Garden, Florida VFW, the American Legion, Masonic Lodge in Lincoln Park and the Orlando Shriners, and the Moose Lodge in Florida. He loved his boat and was a proud member of the Swan Creek Boat Club.
Ronald Leroy Pierce age 75 of Ocoee, Florida passed away peacefully at his caretaker's home in Newport on Thursday, October 29, 2015. He had been under the care of Great Lakes Caring Hospice. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by his stepmother: Mary Elizabeth (Toungett) Pierce; and two brothers: Larry Pierce and Rick Toungett.
To cherish his memory he leaves five children: Terri (Kevin) Pelley of South Lyon, Greg Pierce of St. Louis, Missouri, Michael (Pamela) Gardner of Newport, Nicole Lindsay of Newport, and Richard (Kelly) Pierce of Newport; one brother: Mason "Buddy" Toungett of Allen Park; seven grandchildren: Jaime Bilinski, Caitlin Pelley, Rachael Gardner, Vaughn Gardner, Jakob Lindsay, Carly Lindsay, and Ricky Pierce; three great grandchildren: Noah Peterson, Cadence Peterson, and Emma Rose Bilinski; and his dear loving friends and caregivers: Jeanette and John Sawicki.
A memorial service is going to take place at Toledo Beach Marina, 11840 Toledo Beach Road LaSalle, Michigan 48145 on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 4:00 pm. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with his arrangements.
