Obituary of David Mills

David Frank Mills was born in Monroe, Michigan on July 16, 1956. He was the son of the late Melvin Clarence Mills and the late Helen Mabel (Piehl) Mills. David was also raised by his stepfather: Michael Dusseau. He was a 1975 graduate of Monroe High School. From April 1980 until March of 1982 David served his country honorably in the United States Army Infantry.
For more than thirty years David worked as a welder. He worked for several different employers including Detroit Stoker, the railroad in Toledo, and Northrop-Grumman down South leaving there in April of 2011.
David was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to rabbit and deer hunt, and he also enjoyed fishing. He had a green thumb and could often be found tending to yard work, the garden, and his flowers. David liked to bicycle as well. He was a very loving and generous son and brother. David was a food connoisseur well known for his amazing appetite.
David Frank Mills age 55 of Monroe passed away at 6:45pm, Friday, December 23, 2011 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. In addition to his father in March of 1968 and his mother in June of 2008 his passing was preceded by a beloved aunt: Violet Piehl in 2007, a niece: Heather Mills; and a nephew Tommy Eads.
David leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Leo Mullins and Darrell Koon; his father: Michael Dusseau of Monroe; eight brothers and sisters: Linda (Jack) Matthews of LaSalle, Melvin (Elizabeth) Mills of Newport, Karen Mills of Luna Pier, Dale Mills of White Lake, Mike Mills of Monroe, Nicole Dusseau of Monroe, and Tina and Becky Dusseau of Florida; an uncle: Art Piehl of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; and an aunt: June Thompson of Flint.
Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 8:00pm, Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 11:00am, Wednesday, December 28, 2011 also at Merkle's with the Rev. Kenneth Steffes pastor of Luna Pier Baptist Church officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial where graveside services will be under the auspices of Monroe VFW Post 1138.
