Elizabeth Ida Payne was born in Monroe, Michigan on November 21, 1947. She was one of ten children born from the union of the late Paul Payne and the late Carrie (Reece) Payne.
Elizabeth was very family oriented and devoted to her family. She served them happily as a homemaker. Elizabeth was loved by all those who had the privilege to know her.
She was a volunteer for many years for the American Red Cross. She had enjoyed being a caretaker taking care of both of her parents as well as her church family. Elizabeth had an obsession with Betty Boop. She loved to play bingo, card games, and gaming on line. She had a soft spot for animals, always feeding squirrels and birds.
Elizabeth Ida Morris, age 67 of Monroe passed away at 8:56 pm on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Magnum Care of Monroe. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by five brothers: Raymond, Glen, Lawrence, Bill and Paul "Peanut" Payne; and two sisters: Shirley Dycos and Della Payne.
To cherish her memory, Elizabeth leaves her son: Jeff Morris and his fiancé Lori Rafter of Monroe; one sister: Marian Wallace of Battle Creek, Michigan; one brother: Rollin Payne of Coldwater, Michigan; three grandchildren: Morgan Danielle Morris, of Eastpoint, Michigan, Ali Marie Slaughterbeck of Toledo, Ohio, and James Braclen of Arkansas.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734)384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life with follow at 7:00pm also at Merkle's. Burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at 10:00am.
