Obituary of Dolly Riddle

Dolly Baisden was born on April 15, 1931 in Logan, West Virginia. She was one of six children born from the union of the late Roy and Martha Jane (Workman) Baisden Sr. Dolly married the love of her life, Billy J. Riddle on October 15, 1949 in Logan, West Virginia. From this union came the birth of four children.
Dolly attended college for early childhood education until becoming a teacher. She spent some 30 years teaching in grade schools starting in West Virginia, Ohio, through retirement in 1986 in Michigan. Dolly served the Monroe Public School Board from 1989 to 1992. She later became a member of the Michigan Education Association for Retirees. Dolly was the director of the Children's Department and taught Sunday School at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church and later, Heritage Baptist Church.
Dolly enjoyed walking the mall nearly every day, followed by coffee with her friends. She traveled internationally and across the United States with her husband throughout the years and collected many light houses. Dolly was an avid volunteer for the Mercy Memorial Hospital Volunteer Guild and the Thrift Shop Association in Monroe. She loved cooking for family gatherings, and made wonderful desserts.
Dolly Riddle, age 83 of Monroe passed away at 9:20 am on December 21, 2014 at the Alice Lorraine Care Center in Frenchtown. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband, Billy J. Riddle; one son: Dallas Riddle Sr.; two brothers: Roy Jr and Donald Baisden; and three sisters: Racie Tomblin, Nellie Sargent, and Amanda Roark.
To cherish her memory, Dolly leaves her son: Larry D.(Lori) Riddle of Lansing; two daughters: Kathi M.(Aaron) Krupinski of Monroe and Kristi Y.(Matthew) McIntosh of LaSalle; a daughter-in-law: Connie Riddle of Monroe; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, South 14567 South Dixie Hwy. Monroe, Michigan (734)241-7070. A Celebration of Her Life will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 27, 2014 also at Merkle's with Pastor Roy Southerland of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, Michigan for burial.
