Obituary of David Glen Young
David Glen Young was born on November 17, 1952 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was one of three children born from the union of William Young and Betty (King) Young. He attended Monroe High School, graduating with the class of 1970.
David was a wonderful provider for his family. He was employed by DTE for twenty-eight years working as an electrical engineer at the Fermi 2 nuclear power plant retiring in 2009.
David loved woodworking, bowling, and golfing. He had a passion for gardening taking great pleasure in tending to his trees and vegetable garden. David was a true DIY (do it yourself) man who could fix anything.
David and Dawn were married for twenty-three years and the couple was blessed to raise a wonderful son and daughter. Although they were no longer married, Dawn remained by his side throughout his final illness and was a great comfort to his family.
David Glen Young, age 70 of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. His passing was preceded by his parents: William and Betty Young; his son: Todd Migliore; and his grandparents; Carl and Louise Young.
To cherish his memory, David leaves behind his beloved daughter: Danielle (Stephen) Rumple of Birmingham, Michigan; two sons: David Migliore of Columbus, Ohio and Derek Young of Monroe; his former wife: Dawn Young of Monroe; two sisters: Debra (Gary) Dudek of Indiana and Linda Young of Monroe; and two precious grandchildren: Gabrielle and Reid Rumple.
No public services are planned and a private burial of his cremated remains will be scheduled for a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe, Michigan. David’s care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185.
