Obituary of Alexander Stephen Petrovich

Alexander Stephen Petrovich was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on November 25, 1954. He was one of two children born to Stephen and Margaret (Templin) Petrovich. Shortly after his high school graduation, Al enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country.

Al worked in Wyandotte, Michigan employed in the maintenance department at a steel mill for many years.  He retired in 2014.

A talented musician, Al tried his hand at many instruments. He played the trombone with the brass band at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Southgate, Michigan. He was known to always have a big appetite but was never picky about what was on the table so long as he was in good company. He enjoyed tuning in to classic television programs and the drama series “The Chosen”, which featured the life of Jesus Christ. A gentle soul, Al was an animal lover with an affinity towards cats. He lived a simple, peaceful, and purposeful life, just the way he wanted it to be.

Alexander Stephen Petrovich, age 68, of Monroe, Michigan passed away peacefully at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital on Saturday; March 11, 2023. His passing was preceded by his parents; a sister: Chris Lenoir; and a beloved cat: “Pearl”.  

To cherish his memory he leaves a cousin: Florentine Brown of Benton, Kentucky; numerous friends and band mates including Keith (Teri) Zink; and feline companion: “Mercy”.

Alexander’s care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. Cremation has taken place at the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan. Private inurnment with military honors will be held at Ferndale Cemetery in Riverview, Michigan.
