Obituary of Marcella Schuyler

Marcella Janet Blouch was born on November 21, 1934 in Carleton. She was one of two daughters born from the union of the late Romley and Mary (Robak) Blouch. Marcie was raised by her maternal grandparents, John and Viola Robak.
Marcie attended Airport High School later earning her diploma. She would marry Leroy "Bud" Schuyler at the Carleton Evangelical Church on July 21, 1951. A Maybee resident for forty years she resided in Monroe the past eight years. Marcie worked at the McDonald's on Telegraph Road both cooking and serving customers for fifteen years, retiring in 1990.
She was a founding and present member of the Carleton Community Baptist Church in the Carleton Scofield area. She loved all children and was a Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer at the church.
Marcie had a talent for making wedding cakes, sewing, crocheting and knitting. She loved to make afghans for her grandchildren. She also had a passion for oil painting flowers and landscapes, but her masterpieces were portraits of her beloved grandchildren. When Marcie was not busy doing any of the above, she could be found at the casinos.
Marcella, 81 of Monroe, passed away at FountainView on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her grandparents and her beloved husband of thirty-five years in 1986.
To cherish her memory she leaves a son: Gary of Phoenix, Arizona; four daughters: Pamela Batyik of Carleton; Gerry (Randall) Homrich of Maybee; Brenda (Kevin) Rath and Cheryl (Lee) May both of Monroe; and Barbara Fair of Farmers Market, Texas; her sister: Virginia Smith of Texas; fifteen grandchildren: Jason (Amy) Homrich; Jennifer Homrich (Todd Stone); Dan (Erin) Rath; Jessica (Justin) Purkiss; Ted (Robin) Rath; Autumn Batyik (Derek Weedan); China Batyik; Brice Jackson; Brandon (Nicole) Jackson; Bethany Jackson; Joey (Erica) Lake; Tiffany Kolarov; Trever Kolarov, Tyson Kolarov, and Trenton Kolarov; eighteen great-grandchildren ; and one on the way.
Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185. Friends may also gather on Monday, January 11 from 10:00am until a Celebration of Her Life at 11:00am also at Merkle's, with Pastor Ed Mason officiating. Procession will follow to Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee.
