Obituary of Wade Maddox

Wade Maddox was born in Tazewell, Tennessee on October 28, 1933. He was the son of the late Virgil Maddox and the late Lynnie (Johnson) Maddox.
He married the love of his life, Jeanette Ziegler on June 2, 1951 in Monroe. The couple would raise eight children. For more than fifty years, Wade owned and operated Maddox Construction. He retired in the early 2000's. Wade was a man of great integrity. A devout Christian he led his family and ran his business with strong moral conviction. Wade was always meticulous striving for perfection in all that he did. He was known for his kind heart and spirit.
Wade loved music, enjoying bluegrass and gospel. For many years he performed in a gospel quartet sharing Christ at local churches and nursing homes. Wade liked playing the guitar and sharing this time with family. He enjoyed bowling and had participated in several leagues at Nortel Lanes over the years. He also enjoyed fishing and a little camping from time to time.
Wade Maddox age 80 of Monroe was called from this earthly life unto his Heavenly home on the Lord's day, Sunday morning, October 12, 2014. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by two brothers: Joe Maddox and Emory Keck; and one sister: Betty Carico.
To cherish his memory he leaves his beloved wife of sixty-three years: Jeanette of Monroe; eight children: James (Mary) Ziegler of The Villages, Florida, David (Carol) Ziegler of Carleton, Sharon (David) Dart of Monroe, Evelyn Hamlin of Lambertville, Wade L. (Pam) Maddox of Temperance, Wayne (Jeanette) Maddox of Monroe, Pamela (Mark) Brooks of Ida, and Darlene Waltbilig of Monroe; a brother: Bruce (Margie) Keck of Kokomo, IN; twenty grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 9:00pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, October 15, 2014 also at Merkle's with Reverend Roy Southerland pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Procession will follow to Lulu Cemetery in Ida for burial.
